MIXED MARTIAL ARTS CHAMP TITO ORTIZ HELPS TO SAVE LIVES WITH “ULTIMATE BLOOD DRIVE II” ON SEPTEMBER 2ND IN ARIZONA

LOS ANGELES – (August 30, 2007) – Mixed martial arts champ Tito Ortiz will be the host of the United Blood Services “Ultimate Blood Drive II” on Sunday, September 2nd in a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona. The blood drive will start at 9AM PT and run until 4PM PT at Glendale Community College (6000 W. Olive, Glendale, AZ 85302).

A native of Huntington Beach, CA, Ortiz is also known as “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy,” but this “bad boy for life” spends much of his time and energies on charitable activities. All donors will receive an autographed photo of Ortiz and all will be entered into a raffle to win apparel from Tito’s successful sportswear firm, Punishment Athletics (www.punishment.com), and a limited edition lithograph picture. One lucky participant will be chosen as winner of a “Special Lunch with Tito.” Tito will be also available for a meet-and-greet session with donors throughout the event.

“At the online blood drive we sponsored last year over 200 people signed up to donate, which helped to save over 440 lives. More than half were first time donors,” said Ortiz. “This year, I hope that by holding a live event, we’ll get a lot more interested. Only one in twenty people regularly give blood and if I can encourage more people to come down and donate, I have to do so. Some fans look up to me as a hero, but here’s a chance for everyone who can, to be real heroes and save lives.”

Only attendees with valid ID can donate blood. Interested donors can log onto www.bloodhero.com and enter the sponsor code “tito” or call 877-448-GIVE (4483).

Ortiz is also a passionate supporter of U.S. soldiers. He recently traveled to the Persian Gulf under the sponsorship of the USO to meet with troops on duty there. Additionally, he spends time giving motivational talks to high school students and works with teen groups.

Jacob “Tito” Ortiz is a legendary MMA fighter.
